I know this is a little different from my usual content; however, I can explain. I love food which is quite commonly featured here on Trimm Travels. Food is one of the best ways to truly get to know a destination.
If you know me well or have followed my blog at length, you might know I’m a veteran in the TV/Film industry (and always entertaining the idea of returning). Combine this with food and the Disney destinations I’ve been to worldwide and it totally makes sense, right? 🙃
Awesome, I was hoping to tie it all together! Typically, I only publish recipes that I personally develop based on my travel experiences with food. However, this one is much more loosely based on my many travels to a popular destination. Then, I paired it with my favorite movie from said popular destination’s franchise.
Fair enough? Good. Speaking of all together…let’s put this Mermaid Charcuterie Board all together! 😁

There are a lot of options with this board. Feel free to take liberties to create your own snacks and show your own style however best suits your needs. If you already know what you’re using and desire to take this route, feel free to jump directly to the *setup instructions to create your board*.
Alternatively, if you would like to make this exact board, continue reading for the ingredients and then see below for the Mermaid Charcuterie Board setup instructions.

What you will need to create your own masterpiece:
- charcuterie board
- small ramekin dish (clear looks best but white works too)
- mini cupcake pan
- mini cupcake liners
- 4 oz plastic cups
- mini forks (or mini spoons if preferred)

Making the Little Mermaid Charcuterie Board
Everything in life is a process and while this is no different, it is at least, an EASY process! 🥳

Once you have all your “pre-party players” prepared…

1. Start by placing the mermaid sprinkles in a small ramekin dish in the center of the charcuterie board.

2. Place 6 mini cupcakes each on both the right and left sides of the ramekin dish (center of the board) leaving a bit of space between the sprinkles and the cupcakes.

3. Next, in a line, place 4 jello cups on the top of the board and four cups on the bottom, filling the space between the mini cupcakes on the left and right but leaving space between the jello cups and sprinkles in the middle.
There should now only be space surrounding the sprinkles in the middle.

4. Finally, fill in all the center space with the mermaid popcorn.
5. Congrats-you’re all done and ready to serve!
Notes
- Interactive Element:
- Keep the mini cupcakes iced but undecorated. Make it an activity by allowing party attendees (especially fun for kids) to make their own cupcakes by dipping each cupcake into the sprinkles.
- Optionally, let them add sprinkles to their jello cups as well.
- The number of mini cupcakes and/or jello cups will vary depending on the size of your charcuterie board and ramekin dish.
- This may also change the number of servings. If your board is larger, no problem. If your board is smaller, just have refills ready!
Mermaid Charcuterie Board Tips and Variations
To save time and/or (possibly) money:
- Use ready-made blue Jello cups vs making your own
- Use store-bought mini yellow cupcakes with plain white icing vs making your own
- Use other snacks you have or prefer that fit the color scheme
- Leave the cupcakes (whether homemade or store-bought) iced only to offer an interactive “make-your-own” activity of dipping the cupcakes in the sprinkles. If this isn’t desired, go ahead and decorate cupcakes according to instructions.

With this Little Mermaid Charcuterie Board, you are ALL set to celebrate the upcoming release of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. There are a couple of ways to pair this with the film. One is to have the party right before you go to see the movie to drive up hype and excitement.
However, my personal recommendation is to go see the movie as a group and come back to enjoy this board as you recap the movie and even watch the original. This way, you don’t have time constraints!
If you make this board, please let me know! I would love to see your photos. Also, drop any tips from your experience you might have for other readers and fellow Little Mermaid fans!
‘Til next time…
