Nina from Where In The World Is Nina
Morocco is SO much more than pretty riads and the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, however, Instagram may have you think otherwise. There are tons more places sprinkled around the entire county that are worthy of your snaps.
The beaches, the desert, the lonely and charming little villages, the surf, and the souks…
I couldn’t help myself, I had to put a post together about the most Instagrammable places in Morocco to prove there are so many more opportunities around the whole country to go crazy with your camera.
South Africa | Cape Town
Inma from A World To Travel
Cape Town, in South Africa, is one of those cities that seems out of a fairy tale, where every corner awaits with a visual force and plastic beauty difficult to assimilate; but perfect for photography and to show the world how beautiful it can be on the social networks.
From the vivid colors of the Bo-Kaap neighborhood homes and bathing boxes at Muizenberg and St.James to the incredible panoramic views that can be seen from Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, Cape Town is always a safe bet. Take a look at this Cape Town Instagram guide to start adding places to your list now.
China | Beijing
Linda from Linda Goes East
Beijing truly is a place like no other and has everything you need and more to rock your Instagram feed. Whether it’s the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City or the old Hutong neighborhoods, you’ll find photogenic places on every corner.
I’ve been to Beijing a number of times and have written my post about the most Instagram worthy things to do in Beijing because I still think that many people don’t know how beautiful this city truly is. The mix between modern and traditional architecture is what drives many photographers and Instagrammers to Beijing.
For futuristic designs, I highly recommend checking out the Galaxy SOHO building, the already iconic CCTV Tower in Chaoyang District, as well as the lesser-known 798 Art District. However, my all-time favorite photo stops in Beijing are the historic sites, specifically the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace.
South Korea | Seoul
Marie from Be Marie Korea
South Korea is the country of cute coffee shops, themed museums and instagrammable couple activities or outfits, especially in the capital Seoul. The metropolitan city has so much to offer for tourists from culture to shopping, history and a fantastic night scene. Among all these entertainment options lie numerous instagrammable sights, as Instagram tourism is becoming a real trend among the younger generations, many coffee shops and hotel owners turned their venue into a picture paradise.
My personal favorite instagrammable cafe in Seoul is the Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe both located in Myeongdong and Hongdae, which are the best areas to find these themed cafes. The stunning cafe serves a dual purpose, serving cool drinks and selling make-up and clothes.
Turkey | Istanbul
Stephanie from Sofia Adventures
Istanbul is an insanely beautiful city. There are different neighborhoods spread across the peninsulas that jut into the Bosphorus and Golden Horn, so nearly every neighborhood you are in has water views and incredible skylines.
There’s really nothing better than being on a rooftop deck with a good view. Because of the city’s geography, these views change dramatically. Sometimes you’ll be looking out over the gorgeous architecture of Sultanahmet, while at other times you can look at the Maiden’s Tower or the many architecturally stunning bridges spanning the Bosphorus.
There is also a mix of beautiful architecture, from the colorful wooden houses in Arnavutkoy to the gorgeous Ortakoy Mosque to the stunning Topkapi Palace. Even the crumbling ancient city walls are beautiful in their decay. While we’ve found some of our favorite Istanbul Instagram spots, there really is no end to how charming and photogenic this city is.
England | London
Sophie from Solo Sophie
If you’re looking for a highly Instagrammable city, then I definitely recommend checking out my Instagram guide to London! As the capital city of the UK, it should come as no surprise that London is a must-see destination for photo lovers.
The bustling and busy city has been inhabited for millennia. As a result, countless time periods and eras are represented within the fabric of the city, providing a perfect backdrop in which to capture timeless moments.
If you love pretty cobbled lanes and are looking for a vintage vibe, then you simply must visit the Mews Streets of London. These pockets of peace were once where the horses were housed and are now home to pretty houses and an abundance of greenery.
Elsewhere in London, you’ll soon discover many a pretty and Instagrammable café. Coffee shops of note include Farm Girl Café (their lattés are simply wonderful) and Peggy Porschen (for that floral backdrop).
If you’re more interested in books that baked goods, then there are a plethora of wonderful bookshops to check out- Daunt Books and Persephone Books are both well worth checking out!
England | Oxford
Elizabeth from Call Me Liz
Living in the UK, I love to document my travel experiences and to capture the beauty, color, and excitement of places. One favorite place is Oxford, a city famous all over the world, mainly because of the elite Oxford University which is, in fact, the oldest in the world. For me, there is so much more to Oxford than meets the eye, hence why I wrote this Oxford Instagram guide.
Being that Oxford is a relatively small and compact city it is very easy to explore by foot. When you walk around this magical city, there are tons of fascinating hidden facts to be discovered at every turn. Maybe you will even find some more instagrammable places yourself!
France | Montmartre (Paris)
Anna from My Travel Scrapbook
Forget the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Instagram shots, head to the beautiful Montmartre arrondissement for the ultimate Instagram photo shoot!
Montmartre is the artistic district of Paris. Picture cobbled lanes, ivy-clad houses and artists painting in the streets. Montmartre is incredibly Instagram worthy with beautiful scenes on every corner. I wrote the 15 Instagram spots in Montmartre to highlight just a few of the lovely places to see in Montmartre.
Paris is a very instagrammable city and this guide to 15 instagram spots in Montmartre should help you get that ultimate instagram shot.
Greece | Athens
Allison from Sofia Adventures
Most people who want to photograph Athens instantly think of getting the perfect Parthenon shot on the Acropolis, but there’s so much more beauty to the photogenic city than just this spot. While it definitely deserves to be photographed (more on that below), it’s not the only place in the city to get amazing photographs.
Some of the best places for street photography in Athens include the neighborhoods of Monastiraki, Omonia, and Exarchia. You’ll find amazing (and Instagram-worthy) street art in all three areas. In Monastiraki, you’ll see a mix of highly sophisticated murals and beautiful tags, while Exarchia is famous for its anarchist-bent and intense murals.
For more Instagrammable places in Athens, don’t skip the ancient sites away from the Acropolis. The Temple of Olympian Zeus looks mammoth from the ground, but from above it looks like fallen dominos. You’ll be shocked at how many different angles and shots you can get depending on where you photograph this amazing ancient spot from. Other ancient highlights include the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos and the Athenian Agora.
Poland | Warsaw & Krakow
Lyubomira from Bulgaria On The Go
Poland is one of those places that you don’t expect much of, but once there, you’re blown away. This European gem impresses with its cute towns, beautiful architecture and stunning landscapes. Poland is home to some of the most gorgeous gothic churches you’ve ever seen, while the old towns are full of stunning colorful houses.
You might mistake Gdansk for Copenhagen or Warsaw for Notting Hill in London, but, if you ask me, Poland is even better. In combination with its beauty, the lack of touristy crowds makes this country an Instagram paradise.
You can see more top suggestions in my most Instagrammable places in Warsaw and Krakow post.
Portugal | Lisbon
Lizzie from Wanderlust & Life
Lisbon is by far one of the most Instagram-worthy places we have ever visited. From the tiled architecture to those gorgeous red roofs, the moment we stepped foot in Lisbon we couldn’t help but take picture after picture. And because there are so many really incredible and Instagrammable places in Lisbon we had to write a guide.
Whether you are getting lost in the back streets of the Alfama District or visiting some of the city’s more historical attractions, you will definitely want to take photos.
In fact, a lot of Lisbon’s streets look like they are made for Instagram. For example, the pink street, which is you guessed it a bright pink street, located in Cais do Sodre which used to be a shady part of town. Then there are those incredible trams and funiculars that are so characteristic of Lisbon that you could spend all day photographing.
Romania | Bucharest
Teresa from Brogan Abroad
A lot of people don’t think of Bucharest as a photogenic city, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are plenty of instagrammable spots in Bucharest. From historic buildings to secret alleys, beautifully designed shops and quirky museums, you will have plenty of places to take the kind of photos that you will be proud of.
One of my favorite spots is one of Bucharest’s secret alleys you will find along the main road. Look out for an archway in a large building and chances are there will be an interesting alley through it. But it’s Pasaj Vitoria that captures everyone’s imagination. Covered in rainbow umbrellas, when the sun shines through it produces a beautiful light under a multicolored canopy.
Another spot that must not be missed by any Instagram fan is Carturesti Carusel. This beautifully designed bookshop is every photographer’s dream, with orderly bookshelves arranged over three floors around an atrium and white columns, arches and spiral staircases. The light here is exquisite and you will want to spend hours photographing every corner of this delightful shop.
The Netherlands | Rotterdam
Lisanne from Weekends in Rotterdam
Rotterdam is my beautiful hometown. Most people only visit Amsterdam when they visit the Netherlands, but Rotterdam is actually also a very cool and Instagrammable city to visit. And completely different from any other city in the Netherlands!
It’s a lot more modern and raw than most Dutch cities. The unusual architecture, colorful hotspots and lots and lots of street art – it has everything that can make your feed look on fleek! And if you really do want to take photos of those cute hold “herenhuizen” that you always see in Amsterdam, you can always visit Historic Delfshaven and take a similar shot there. Be sure to check out these 9 Instagrammable spots in Rotterdam on our website!
Egypt | Cairo
Monica from Ahlan Monica
Cairo, in particular, is a city like no other and is often referred to as the ‘Mother of the World’, but often when you first arrive it feels as though you’ve been transported to another world! There’s no shortage of sites to see in this city rich in culture and history. From royal palaces to thousand-year-old mosques or infamously, the Great Pyramids of Egypt and the Sphinx, there’s an Instagram photo opportunity around every corner.
While in recent history Egypt has had its share of ups and downs, tourism is back and it’s no surprise because this place is what Instagram dreams are made of! Cairo is one of my favorite cities in the world and what has now become my second home, I couldn’t help but put together a list of the most instagrammable places in Cairo, showcasing the spots I’ve discovered over the years that go beyond what most tourists know about the city.
United Arab Emirates | Dubai
Arzo from Arzo Travels
In a city that holds so many records like Dubai, it is almost inevitable to find many great Instagram spots.
However, in a big city like Dubai, you can also feel overwhelmed and easily miss the great spots.
Taking pictures of the tallest building in the world? Of course, this is a must. But what about all the other great places? And believe me…Dubai is very photogenic and has many great Instagram places.
As mentioned at the beginning there is Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world. Whether you take photos from the top or from a distance – it is a pretty amazing photo motive.
But there is also La Mer – a cool and stylish new beachfront that opened only about a year ago. When I visited the first time last year it was hardly known, now it is one of the most popular places for photo shoots. Also, there are so many stylish little shops and restaurants and there are fun murals that attract a lot of attention.
But of course there are so many more places – and hopefully, this Instagram guide to Dubai will help you find the best spots for your own Instagram shooting because if you cannot get a good picture in Dubai – then I don’t know where you will get the perfect shot.
Canada | Montreal
Cindy from Travel Bliss Now
Montreal, Quebec’s largest city is a treasure trove of photo opportunities.
This city has a fascinating mix of old and new. In old Montreal, you’ll find European-style cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, French cafés and buildings dating back to the 17th century.
This is where you’ll find one of the most Instagram worthy places in Montreal, the Notre Dame Basilica (110 Notre-Dame Street West). Built in the Gothic Revival style, this ornate Basilica is photogenic, with a colorful palette of blues, both inside and out.
For other photo spots, don’t miss the festive Old Port area and its giant ferris wheel, which provides year-round panoramic views of the city (the cabins are heated in the winter). You can also get a great view of the city’s shiny skyscrapers from Mount Royal Park, on top of a hill in the middle of Montreal. From there, wander through the neighborhood of Le Plateau Mont Royal to see the colorful houses, street art, and to try Montreal’s world-renowned bagels.
United States | Dallas, Texas
Priya from Outside Suburbia
When we travel we don’t typically seek out Instagrammy locations but instead, seek out experiences. However, when we are home in Dallas it is fun to find instagrammable spots on weekends. There are some vibrant murals, neat architecture and cool sculptures and some great photo ops in Dallas.
So grab a camera or iPhone and let me show you around the best spots for pictures in Dallas, Fort Worth, and the suburbs – yes the ‘burbs got some great spots too! These Instagrammable spots in Dallas are guaranteed to add some pop to your feed and you might even run into some of your favorite Dallas fashion bloggers doing a photo shoot.
United States | Georgia
Dian from Girls Getaway
Georgia has always been one of our favorite getaway places; this gorgeous southern state has constantly amazed us year after year with its offerings of many different kinds of vacation experiences ranging from urban to country music, old southern plantations and outdoor adventures.
There is something about the warm, sultry southern air, the abundance of enormous live oak trees, and historical southern attractions throughout Georgia that has you reaching for your phone or camera to snap the next perfect photo or Instagram shot.
So when we decided to write a post about top instagrammable places for our blog, we took a look back through our Instafeed, and not surprisingly, we discovered photos of Georgia dominated our feed. Not only were these photos simply stunning but they were also our followers’ favorites, making the state of Georgia a perfect choice for our top instagrammable places story.
We hope our ‘pretty as a picture’ Georgia coastal photo inspires you to visit this sweet state and discover its many southern charms.
United States | Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Sage from Everyday Wanderer
From an art museum that looks like it could set sail on Lake Michigan to giant ladybugs the size of VW Beetles crawling down the side of a building, there are many Instagrammable spots in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Watch for Harley-Davidson fans on “hogs”, take in the sights and sounds of the riverwalk, cuddle the adorable four-legged concierge at the Hilton, or admire the North Point Lighthouse standing tall under a dramatic sky. Foodies will want to feature a flight of craft beers paired with fried fish or a massive Bloody Mary known as the “Bloody Beast” on their Instagram feeds.
Because it’s one of the most iconic buildings in Brew City, the Milwaukee Art Museum will likely be at the top of any list of the most Instagrammable spots in Milwaukee. This amazing building designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava is topped by the Burke Brise Soleil that makes the building look like a cross between a sailing vessel and a soaring gull. With the wingspan of a Boeing 747, this moveable installation serves as a sunscreen for the glass-domed Windhover Hall below. To keep this gigantic work of art from taking flight, wind sensors automatically close the wings if the wind reaches 23 mph (37 kph) or greater.
United States | Rhode Island
Jamie from The Daily Adventures Of Me
I live in the smallest of the US states, Rhode Island. But this oh-so-small state is full of a diversity of beauty that makes it also oh-so-Instagram worthy. My Rhode Island Instagram Guide obviously includes many pictures of our coastline, but also colonial houses, parks, hiking spots, and vineyards. Rhode Island is full of beauty, urban and natural, old and new. I imagine it will surprise you!
Rhode Island is so small, my best tip for getting the best shots here is to be open to exploring.
United States | San Francisco, California
Katherine from Bright Lights of America
San Francisco is one of the most photogenic cities in the US – it’s got gorgeous architecture, the bay and beaches, Golden Gate Park, and of course the bridge to snap on your travels. From the colorful Victorian townhouses that line the city streets, to the street art in the Mission District, there are so many Instagram worthy angles to San Francisco that it’s easy to get overwhelmed.
I wrote my guide to Instagram worthy views in San Francisco about two years after I moved here. I had so many great photos from my trips into the city during that time, that it just felt unfair not to share my knowledge with people who only had a couple of days to really see San Francisco.
My absolute hands-down favorite spot to snap the city from is Alcatraz Island. You really do get the best view of San Francisco from the Bay, and standing out on Alcatraz Island on a clear day, looking out to the city and the boats on the water is just gorgeous!
United States | Washington D.C.
Meghan from Meghan The Traveling Teacher
Washington DC is one of the most popular destinations in the US, but most people see it as all about US history, monuments, and memorials. However, there’s so much more to DC! It is one of the most Instagrammable places and my home city.
If you’re willing to travel away from the National Mall, you’ll start finding some amazing places to photograph. Yes, the National Mall is where you’ll find the museums and monuments, but you’ll also get away from the crowds and get some awesome pictures. Most people don’t leave downtown and miss out.
Some of my favorites are the murals around U Street and Shaw as well as the National Arboretum. The murals around U Street give you the chance to take some fun pictures in a historic part of the city that is known for going out to bars more than anything else. Going during the day means you will miss the crowds.
The National Arboretum is beautiful with different flowers and plants from around the world. It’s a beautiful outdoor space with plenty of secluded spots for great photos. You’ll also find the original Capitol columns here. These spots are perfect to get away from crowds and get some great pictures. So, while you may not think of DC as an Instagrammable spot, it truly is!
And finally, mine! 🙂
Perú is easily one of my top favorite countries and one reason why is because it’s so very photogenic. Everywhere I turned there was vibrant color beckoning for the camera. From El Parque del Amor in Lima to pink river dolphins in the Amazon to Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu in Cusco, there are Instagram worthy photos everywhere in Perú.
My Instagrammer’s Guide to Perú will give you a lot of ideas in three different regions of the country, but you will want to take photos everywhere you look in this beautiful South American country!
In some of the plazas (there’s a Plaza de Armas in almost every, single city) keep your eyes open for celebrations or Peruvians dancing in their native clothing. You might just see a quinceanera like we did!
This is a beautiful world we live in isn’t it? 😍
I hope you find these guides helpful and you are able to get all the best photos! Remember to tag me on Instagram or any other social media you use (I’m @trimmtravels across the board) as well as the travel blogger whose guide you used!
Check back periodically as I will be creating more guides to add soon!
