Instagram. It’s been all the rage for quite a while now. Where is the first place you go to find “that” photo? You know, the iconic one that you MUST have. Instagram, right? It’s a popular question I get asked…where can I get that photo? What is the location? So, with help from other fellow travel bloggers, I have put together this ultimate Instagram inspiration guide. They even included their top tips to help you get your best photos!

Instagram Inspiration Guide

I have organized this Instagram inspiration guide by continent, country/city and then US states. Everything is in alphabetical for easy searching. If you use any of the guides, be sure to let us know by tagging me on Instagram as well as the travel blogger whose guide you used!

Morocco

Morocco is SO much more than pretty riads and the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, however, Instagram may have you think otherwise. There are tons more places sprinkled around the entire county that are worthy of your snaps.

The beaches, the desert, the lonely and charming little villages, the surf, and the souks…

I couldn’t help myself, I had to put a post together about the most Instagrammable places in Morocco to prove there are so many more opportunities around the whole country to go crazy with your camera.

TIP: The BEST way to get to many of these places and to have enough time to photograph them to perfection is by road tripping. Morocco is extremely easy to road trip through and you’ll be sure to get some snaps that nobody else has. Promise!

South Africa | Cape Town

Inma from A World To Travel

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Cape Town, in South Africa, is one of those cities that seems out of a fairy tale, where every corner awaits with a visual force and plastic beauty difficult to assimilate; but perfect for photography and to show the world how beautiful it can be on the social networks.

From the vivid colors of the Bo-Kaap neighborhood homes and bathing boxes at Muizenberg and St.James to the incredible panoramic views that can be seen from Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, Cape Town is always a safe bet. Take a look at this Cape Town Instagram guide to start adding places to your list now.

TIP: If you do not like the crowds that sometimes gather around the usual Instagram spots, we recommend you go on a unique adventure that will allow you to photograph the city from the sea at your own pace: a champagne cruise at sunset across the Cape Town Bay!

Asia

China | Beijing

Linda from Linda Goes East

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Beijing truly is a place like no other and has everything you need and more to rock your Instagram feed. Whether it’s the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City or the old Hutong neighborhoods, you’ll find photogenic places on every corner.

I’ve been to Beijing a number of times and have written my post about the most Instagram worthy things to do in Beijing because I still think that many people don’t know how beautiful this city truly is. The mix between modern and traditional architecture is what drives many photographers and Instagrammers to Beijing.

For futuristic designs, I highly recommend checking out the Galaxy SOHO building, the already iconic CCTV Tower in Chaoyang District, as well as the lesser-known 798 Art District. However, my all-time favorite photo stops in Beijing are the historic sites, specifically the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace.

TIP: Visit Jingshan Park to get the shot of your lifetime of the majestic Forbidden City from above just before the sun goes down for the best light and hopefully a beautiful sunset backdrop.

South Korea | Seoul

Marie from Be Marie Korea

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

South Korea is the country of cute coffee shops, themed museums and instagrammable couple activities or outfits, especially in the capital Seoul. The metropolitan city has so much to offer for tourists from culture to shopping, history and a fantastic night scene. Among all these entertainment options lie numerous instagrammable sights, as Instagram tourism is becoming a real trend among the younger generations, many coffee shops and hotel owners turned their venue into a picture paradise.

My personal favorite instagrammable cafe in Seoul is the Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe both located in Myeongdong and Hongdae, which are the best areas to find these themed cafes. The stunning cafe serves a dual purpose, serving cool drinks and selling make-up and clothes.

TIP: When visiting this pool themed cafe make sure to wear a bright outfit that can contrast with the pastel pink and blue colors used in the cafe.

Turkey | Istanbul

Stephanie from Sofia Adventures

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Istanbul is an insanely beautiful city. There are different neighborhoods spread across the peninsulas that jut into the Bosphorus and Golden Horn, so nearly every neighborhood you are in has water views and incredible skylines.

There’s really nothing better than being on a rooftop deck with a good view. Because of the city’s geography, these views change dramatically. Sometimes you’ll be looking out over the gorgeous architecture of Sultanahmet, while at other times you can look at the Maiden’s Tower or the many architecturally stunning bridges spanning the Bosphorus.

There is also a mix of beautiful architecture, from the colorful wooden houses in Arnavutkoy to the gorgeous Ortakoy Mosque to the stunning Topkapi Palace. Even the crumbling ancient city walls are beautiful in their decay. While we’ve found some of our favorite Istanbul Instagram spots, there really is no end to how charming and photogenic this city is.

TIP: Go up! Get on a roof deck, rooftop bar, or even up in the Galata Tower. The city is beautiful on the ground, but it’s unbelievable from above.

Europe

England | London

Sophie from Solo Sophie

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

If you’re looking for a highly Instagrammable city, then I definitely recommend checking out my Instagram guide to London! As the capital city of the UK, it should come as no surprise that London is a must-see destination for photo lovers.

The bustling and busy city has been inhabited for millennia. As a result, countless time periods and eras are represented within the fabric of the city, providing a perfect backdrop in which to capture timeless moments.

If you love pretty cobbled lanes and are looking for a vintage vibe, then you simply must visit the Mews Streets of London. These pockets of peace were once where the horses were housed and are now home to pretty houses and an abundance of greenery.

Elsewhere in London, you’ll soon discover many a pretty and Instagrammable café. Coffee shops of note include Farm Girl Café (their lattés are simply wonderful) and Peggy Porschen (for that floral backdrop).
If you’re more interested in books that baked goods, then there are a plethora of wonderful bookshops to check out- Daunt Books and Persephone Books are both well worth checking out!

TIP: My very best tip for photographing London would be to try to capture all of your shots as early in the day as possible, rather than later on. Head out for sunrise and you can expect to find pretty light and fewer people around. This is especially true of ‘famous photo spots’ like around Tower Bridge, Covent Garden, and in the Mews Streets!

England | Oxford

Elizabeth from Call Me Liz

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Living in the UK, I love to document my travel experiences and to capture the beauty, color, and excitement of places. One favorite place is Oxford, a city famous all over the world, mainly because of the elite Oxford University which is, in fact, the oldest in the world. For me, there is so much more to Oxford than meets the eye, hence why I wrote this Oxford Instagram guide.

The stunning architecture, exciting history and British culture make it not only insta-worthy but give you so many wonderful reasons to visit time and time again. Summer is a particularly great time to see the flowers blooming at the University of Oxford Botanic Garden and you can even experience punting on the River Cherwell.

Alternatively, if you’re a movie fan many of Oxford’s beautiful locations have been famously featured in films including Harry Potter (the Bodleian Library, New College and Christ Church), creating the iconic gothic backdrop.

Being that Oxford is a relatively small and compact city it is very easy to explore by foot. When you walk around this magical city, there are tons of fascinating hidden facts to be discovered at every turn. Maybe you will even find some more instagrammable places yourself!

TIP: To capture the Bridge of Sighs and get that winning Instagram shot, stand far back on New College Lane. I would also suggest not visiting on a weekend when it is busy with crowds of people.

France | Montmartre (Paris)

Anna from My Travel Scrapbook

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Forget the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Instagram shots, head to the beautiful Montmartre arrondissement for the ultimate Instagram photo shoot!

Montmartre is the artistic district of Paris. Picture cobbled lanes, ivy-clad houses and artists painting in the streets. Montmartre is incredibly Instagram worthy with beautiful scenes on every corner. I wrote the 15 Instagram spots in Montmartre to highlight just a few of the lovely places to see in Montmartre.

Paris is a very instagrammable city and this guide to 15 instagram spots in Montmartre should help you get that ultimate instagram shot.

TIP: Bring a good camera, wear red lipstick and be patient. A good camera will be helpful on those cloudy French days where the exposure can be a little blinding. Wear red lipstick as you are in Paris and the red contrasts wonderfully against the grey bricks, green ivy houses, and the pale skies. Finally, this is quite a popular area for tourists to visit so you may have to be patient getting that perfect shot without the crowds. One excellent spot for taking a photo with the Moulin de la Galette is actually a zebra crossing so be mindful of passing vehicles. Similarly, you will probably have to queue to get a photo at the Wall of Love due to its popularity.

Greece | Athens

Allison from Sofia Adventures

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Most people who want to photograph Athens instantly think of getting the perfect Parthenon shot on the Acropolis, but there’s so much more beauty to the photogenic city than just this spot. While it definitely deserves to be photographed (more on that below), it’s not the only place in the city to get amazing photographs.

Some of the best places for street photography in Athens include the neighborhoods of Monastiraki, Omonia, and Exarchia. You’ll find amazing (and Instagram-worthy) street art in all three areas. In Monastiraki, you’ll see a mix of highly sophisticated murals and beautiful tags, while Exarchia is famous for its anarchist-bent and intense murals.

For more Instagrammable places in Athens, don’t skip the ancient sites away from the Acropolis. The Temple of Olympian Zeus looks mammoth from the ground, but from above it looks like fallen dominos. You’ll be shocked at how many different angles and shots you can get depending on where you photograph this amazing ancient spot from. Other ancient highlights include the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos and the Athenian Agora.

TIP: Now back to the main event, the Acropolis. There are tons of cafes and restaurants boasting Acropolis views, but the best place to photograph it is on Mount Lycabettus. Climb (or ride) to the top of the mountain to get views of the Acropolis with the Saronic Gulf in the background. Bring a tripod if you want the perfect sunset shot.

Poland | Warsaw & Krakow

Lyubomira from Bulgaria On The Go

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Poland is one of those places that you don’t expect much of, but once there, you’re blown away. This European gem impresses with its cute towns, beautiful architecture and stunning landscapes. Poland is home to some of the most gorgeous gothic churches you’ve ever seen, while the old towns are full of stunning colorful houses.

You might mistake Gdansk for Copenhagen or Warsaw for Notting Hill in London, but, if you ask me, Poland is even better. In combination with its beauty, the lack of touristy crowds makes this country an Instagram paradise.

You can see more top suggestions in my most Instagrammable places in Warsaw and Krakow post.

TIP: Capture the atmosphere! If you want to get a nice shot of the colorful houses, don’t just snap a simple photo of them. Poland has so much more to offer! Get everything that’s going on around in the frame, may it be little kiosks, cute cafes or just some pigeons flying around – it all makes for this Polish vibe tourists fall in love with.

Portugal | Lisbon

Lizzie from Wanderlust & Life

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Lisbon is by far one of the most Instagram-worthy places we have ever visited. From the tiled architecture to those gorgeous red roofs, the moment we stepped foot in Lisbon we couldn’t help but take picture after picture. And because there are so many really incredible and Instagrammable places in Lisbon we had to write a guide.

Whether you are getting lost in the back streets of the Alfama District or visiting some of the city’s more historical attractions, you will definitely want to take photos.

In fact, a lot of Lisbon’s streets look like they are made for Instagram. For example, the pink street, which is you guessed it a bright pink street, located in Cais do Sodre which used to be a shady part of town. Then there are those incredible trams and funiculars that are so characteristic of Lisbon that you could spend all day photographing.

TIP: Our best advice for trying to take the perfect Instagram shot in Lisbon is to just wander, and let your camera lead you. The best pictures are usually of random back streets and alleyways as opposed to the main tourist attractions.

Romania | Bucharest

Teresa from Brogan Abroad

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

A lot of people don’t think of Bucharest as a photogenic city, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are plenty of instagrammable spots in Bucharest. From historic buildings to secret alleys, beautifully designed shops and quirky museums, you will have plenty of places to take the kind of photos that you will be proud of.

One of my favorite spots is one of Bucharest’s secret alleys you will find along the main road. Look out for an archway in a large building and chances are there will be an interesting alley through it. But it’s Pasaj Vitoria that captures everyone’s imagination. Covered in rainbow umbrellas, when the sun shines through it produces a beautiful light under a multicolored canopy.

Another spot that must not be missed by any Instagram fan is Carturesti Carusel. This beautifully designed bookshop is every photographer’s dream, with orderly bookshelves arranged over three floors around an atrium and white columns, arches and spiral staircases. The light here is exquisite and you will want to spend hours photographing every corner of this delightful shop.

TIP: Try and visit Carturesti Carusel as soon as it opens. The morning light will be glorious and you will very likely have the whole shop to yourself.

The Netherlands | Rotterdam

Lisanne from Weekends in Rotterdam

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Rotterdam is my beautiful hometown. Most people only visit Amsterdam when they visit the Netherlands, but Rotterdam is actually also a very cool and Instagrammable city to visit. And completely different from any other city in the Netherlands!

It’s a lot more modern and raw than most Dutch cities. The unusual architecture, colorful hotspots and lots and lots of street art – it has everything that can make your feed look on fleek! And if you really do want to take photos of those cute old “herenhuizen” that you always see in Amsterdam, you can always visit Historic Delfshaven and take a similar shot there. Be sure to check out these 9 Instagrammable spots in Rotterdam on our website!

TIP: The perfect shot to take in Rotterdam is definitely at the Cube Houses. It’s a very unusual building that can’t be found anywhere else in this world, making it an iconic shot.

Middle East

Egypt | Cairo

Monica from Ahlan Monica

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Cairo, in particular, is a city like no other and is often referred to as the ‘Mother of the World’, but often when you first arrive it feels as though you’ve been transported to another world! There’s no shortage of sites to see in this city rich in culture and history. From royal palaces to thousand-year-old mosques or infamously, the Great Pyramids of Egypt and the Sphinx, there’s an Instagram photo opportunity around every corner.

While in recent history Egypt has had its share of ups and downs, tourism is back and it’s no surprise because this place is what Instagram dreams are made of! Cairo is one of my favorite cities in the world and what has now become my second home, I couldn’t help but put together a list of the most instagrammable places in Cairo, showcasing the spots I’ve discovered over the years that go beyond what most tourists know about the city.

TIP: The Pyramids Complex has to be one of the most photographed locations in the world. To get a unique photo, go beyond the expected “kissing the Sphinx” shots and look for new angles – which aren’t hard to find as the area is huge and expansive. Whether you try a new photo from up close or from a distance, there are always unique photos to be taken around the pyramids – or even from atop a camel!

United Arab Emirates | Dubai

Arzo from Arzo Travels

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

In a city that holds so many records like Dubai, it is almost inevitable to find many great Instagram spots.
However, in a big city like Dubai, you can also feel overwhelmed and easily miss the great spots.

Taking pictures of the tallest building in the world? Of course, this is a must. But what about all the other great places? And believe me…Dubai is very photogenic and has many great Instagram places.

As mentioned at the beginning there is Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world. Whether you take photos from the top or from a distance – it is a pretty amazing photo motive.

But there is also La Mer – a cool and stylish new beachfront that opened only about a year ago. When I visited the first time last year it was hardly known, now it is one of the most popular places for photoshoots. Also, there are so many stylish little shops and restaurants and there are fun murals that attract a lot of attention.

But of course, there are so many more places – and hopefully, this Instagram guide to Dubai will help you find the best spots for your own Instagram shooting because if you cannot get a good picture in Dubai – then I don’t know where you will get the perfect shot.

TIP: To get the best pictures, I recommend waking up early – before the crowds come (days start quite late in Dubai, so at around 7-11 am it is still good to take pictures) or to take pictures at night – Dubai wears its prettiest dress at night.

North America

Canada | Montreal

Cindy from Travel Bliss Now

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Montreal, Quebec’s largest city is a treasure trove of photo opportunities.

This city has a fascinating mix of old and new. In old Montreal, you’ll find European-style cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages, French cafés and buildings dating back to the 17th century.

This is where you’ll find one of the most Instagram worthy places in Montreal, the Notre Dame Basilica (110 Notre-Dame Street West). Built in the Gothic Revival style, this ornate Basilica is photogenic, with a colorful palette of blues, both inside and out.

For other photo spots, don’t miss the festive Old Port area and its giant ferris wheel, which provides year-round panoramic views of the city (the cabins are heated in the winter). You can also get a great view of the city’s shiny skyscrapers from Mount Royal Park, on top of a hill in the middle of Montreal. From there, wander through the neighborhood of Le Plateau Mont Royal to see the colorful houses, street art, and to try Montreal’s world-renowned bagels.

TIP: You’ll get the best shots of the exterior of the Notre Dame Basilica at night when it’s lit with blue flood lamps, and there’s less of a crowd in front.

United States | Dallas, Texas

Priya from Outside Suburbia

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

When we travel we don’t typically seek out Instagrammy locations but instead, seek out experiences. However, when we are home in Dallas it is fun to find instagrammable spots on weekends.  There are some vibrant murals, neat architecture and cool sculptures and some great photo ops in Dallas.

So grab a camera or iPhone and let me show you around the best spots for pictures in Dallas, Fort Worth, and the suburbs – yes the ‘burbs got some great spots too!  These Instagrammable spots in Dallas are guaranteed to add some pop to your feed and you might even run into some of your favorite Dallas fashion bloggers doing a photo shoot.

TIP: Head to Mirador Restaurant at Forty Ten, the upscale shopping store for a nice view and photo of the giant eyeball of Dallas. If you are going to the Dallas Arboretum, plan for a weekday when the crowds are less and you can get cleaner shots.

United States | Georgia

Dian from Girls Getaway

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Georgia has always been one of our favorite getaway places; this gorgeous southern state has constantly amazed us year after year with its offerings of many different kinds of vacation experiences ranging from urban to country music, old southern plantations and outdoor adventures.

There is something about the warm, sultry southern air, the abundance of enormous live oak trees, and historical southern attractions throughout Georgia that has you reaching for your phone or camera to snap the next perfect photo or Instagram shot.

So when we decided to write a post about top instagrammable places for our blog, we took a look back through our Instafeed, and not surprisingly, we discovered photos of Georgia dominated our feed. Not only were these photos simply stunning but they were also our followers’ favorites, making the state of Georgia a perfect choice for our top instagrammable places story.

We hope our ‘pretty as a picture’ Georgia coastal photo inspires you to visit this sweet state and discover its many southern charms.

TIP: Getting the right shot sometimes requires patience and timing. We got to the Georgia coast around mid-afternoon, when the sun was high in the sky, making photography pointless. We went off for an early dinner, came back to where I wanted to take my photo and waited for the perfect lighting and an empty boat dock. After 15 minutes I got the shot I wanted.

United States | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Sage from Everyday Wanderer

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

From an art museum that looks like it could set sail on Lake Michigan to giant ladybugs the size of VW Beetles crawling down the side of a building, there are many Instagrammable spots in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Watch for Harley-Davidson fans on “hogs”, take in the sights and sounds of the riverwalk, cuddle the adorable four-legged concierge at the Hilton, or admire the North Point Lighthouse standing tall under a dramatic sky. Foodies will want to feature a flight of craft beers paired with fried fish or a massive Bloody Mary known as the “Bloody Beast” on their Instagram feeds.

Because it’s one of the most iconic buildings in Brew City, the Milwaukee Art Museum will likely be at the top of any list of the most Instagrammable spots in Milwaukee. This amazing building designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava is topped by the Burke Brise Soleil that makes the building look like a cross between a sailing vessel and a soaring gull. With the wingspan of a Boeing 747, this moveable installation serves as a sunscreen for the glass-domed Windhover Hall below. To keep this gigantic work of art from taking flight, wind sensors automatically close the wings if the wind reaches 23 mph (37 kph) or greater.

TIP: To capture the Milwaukee Art Museum, one of the most Instagrammable spots in Milwaukee, marvel at it where Wisconsin Avenue dead-ends into the museum. Or, better yet, walk behind it along the Oak Leaf Trail for even more stunning views.

United States | Rhode Island

Jamie from The Daily Adventures Of Me

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

I live in the smallest of the US states, Rhode Island. But this oh-so-small state is full of a diversity of beauty that makes it also oh-so-Instagram worthy. My Rhode Island Instagram Guide obviously includes many pictures of our coastline, but also colonial houses, parks, hiking spots, and vineyards. Rhode Island is full of beauty, urban and natural, old and new. I imagine it will surprise you!

Rhode Island is so small, my best tip for getting the best shots here is to be open to exploring.

TIP: A great way to edit photos for Instagram is using Adobe Lightroom, which has an app for your cell phone.

United States | San Francisco, California

Katherine from Bright Lights of America

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

San Francisco is one of the most photogenic cities in the US – it’s got gorgeous architecture, the bay and beaches, Golden Gate Park, and of course the bridge to snap on your travels. From the colorful Victorian townhouses that line the city streets, to the street art in the Mission District, there are so many Instagram worthy angles to San Francisco that it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

I wrote my guide to Instagram worthy views in San Francisco about two years after I moved here. I had so many great photos from my trips into the city during that time, that it just felt unfair not to share my knowledge with people who only had a couple of days to really see San Francisco.

My absolute hands-down favorite spot to snap the city from is Alcatraz Island. You really do get the best view of San Francisco from the Bay, and standing out on Alcatraz Island on a clear day, looking out to the city and the boats on the water is just gorgeous!

TIP: San Francisco’s Instagrammable nature means that you will be jostling with a lot of others to get that perfect shot. So my tip is to be patient and courteous – don’t stand in a prime position taking 100 photos of the same thing. Get a couple of snaps, make sure everything’s aligned like you want it to be, and get out of there.

United States | Washington D.C.

Meghan from Meghan The Traveling Teacher

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Washington DC is one of the most popular destinations in the US, but most people see it as all about US history, monuments, and memorials. However, there’s so much more to DC! It is one of the most Instagrammable places and my home city.

If you’re willing to travel away from the National Mall, you’ll start finding some amazing places to photograph. Yes, the National Mall is where you’ll find the museums and monuments, but you’ll also get away from the crowds and get some awesome pictures. Most people don’t leave downtown and miss out.

Some of my favorites are the murals around U Street and Shaw as well as the National Arboretum. The murals around U Street give you the chance to take some fun pictures in a historic part of the city that is known for going out to bars more than anything else. Going during the day means you will miss the crowds.

The National Arboretum is beautiful with different flowers and plants from around the world. It’s a beautiful outdoor space with plenty of secluded spots for great photos. You’ll also find the original Capitol columns here. These spots are perfect to get away from crowds and get some great pictures. So, while you may not think of DC as an Instagrammable spot, it truly is!

TIP: Many of the murals are super easy to get a photo of even if you are by yourself (I take all my own!). Carry a mini-wrap around tripod to get the best shots, even if you don’t have someone to take the picture.

South America

Perú

And finally, mine! 🙂

If you're wondering what photos to get on your next adventure, I've got them all right here in this Instagram Inspiration guide from fellow travel bloggers! #instagram #photos #photography #photographytips #travelphotography #travel

Perú is easily one of my top favorite countries and one reason why is because it’s so very photogenic. Everywhere I turned there was vibrant color beckoning for the camera. From El Parque del Amor in Lima to pink river dolphins in the Amazon to Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu in Cusco, there are Instagram worthy photos everywhere in Perú.

My Instagrammer’s Guide to Perú will give you a lot of ideas in three different regions of the country, but you will want to take photos everywhere you look in this beautiful South American country!

In some of the plazas (there’s a Plaza de Armas in almost every, single city) keep your eyes open for celebrations or Peruvians dancing in their native clothing. You might just see a quinceanera like we did!

TIP: Don’t just take the photo from an obvious angle. Get down on the ground or put something colorful in the foreground to create visually appealing photos. Color is everywhere in Perú and you want to capture it all!

  5. Finding great IG-worthy destinations are great. Especially if you are just doing it as a hobby instead of using it to grow your blog. LOL. Having said that, these are all great places and are definitely beautiful. I’d probably spend hours at the Carturesti Carusel not just for the photos but for the books too. 😀

    1. Hi Marvi-That is an amazing bookstore is it not? I’m dying to see it myself! I always love looking for Instagram inspiration and yes, it is more fun as a hobby! Thanks for reading! 🙂

  6. I love all the tip on where to go and capture great photos! I love the idea of diving it by country. I love the pictures what type of camera you have? I don’t have any yet most of my photos are old ones and I need to buy one for new future travels.

    1. Hi April-Thank you, so glad you like it! This guide was put together by myself and a bunch of different travel bloggers so we all have different types of cameras. The two main cameras I personally use are a Canon SX740 HS and a Canon 80D. Hope that helps and thanks for reading! 🙂

  7. Poland has always been a place we want to visit – full of IG’able spots, no doubt. Murals/street art always make for photo-worthy spots in a any city. Great tips at the end of each section, too. Never heard of the pink street in Lisbon…

You are correct: it IS a beautiful world we live in!

    1. Hi Jerry and Fiona-Isn’t it though? It’s a thought that just makes me quiet because it makes that big of a statement. I can’t wait to visit Poland and the Pink Street in Lisbon. So glad you like the tips-always want to help people get the photos! Thanks for reading! 🙂

  8. I’ve yet to find anywhere in the world that isn’t Instagrammable … though I do have a pet peeve with so many IG guides containing photos that simply show the grammer putting on a ridiculous pout or displaying various body parts and blocking the view I actually wanted to see, but I digress. 😉 This was a very fun roundup of place and I LOVE your tip on getting down on the ground and/or putting something in the foreground (not the Instagrammer, see above) to make the shot better. Your photos are always super!!!

    1. Hi Michael-Thank you so much! That means a lot especially coming from you! I don’t like the instagrammer always being in the foreground with some ridiculous look either. I appreciate a photo where the person is in it and I see the view, but yeah I totally get what you’re saying. Thanks for reading! 🙂

  9. Though I don’t agree with traveling for gathering Instagram-worthy shots, I must admit many of these photos look amazing. I’d love to visit some of them just for fun, not even for taking pictures.

    1. Hi Mirela-Traveling *just* for Instagram-worthy shots isn’t the angle of the article actually. I don’t travel just for Instagram, but I do travel because I enjoy seeing the sites and I enjoy photography. If I’m going, I want to get the best photos, that’s all! Thanks for reading! 🙂

  10. What a fun post, Heather! I love that you incorporate the opinions of a bunch of other bloggers. I absolutely agree about Lisbon, and I do think Beijing would be a fun place to try and capture some creative and artsy shots. I never would’ve guessed Rhode Island would make the list, but as one of the few remaining East Coast states I’ve yet to visit, I think that would be a lovely place to check out as well!

    1. Hi Kevin, Thank you! So glad you like it! I love hearing the opinions and suggestions of other bloggers. You can only learn from others, right? Plus we haven’t all been everywhere…though it’s the goal! Rhode Island is indeed beautiful. I will say that I have been to all 50 States and there are some that will really surprise you with their beauty! Thanks for reading! 🙂

  11. Thanks for the great tips. Greece is on the top of my list.

I also wanted to let you know I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award in my post today! Take a look if you would like to join in. 🙂 I think it’s a nice way to recognize other bloggers work and ask some thought-provoking (or not) questions.

    1. Hi Wendy, Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the post and thank you for the nomination. I truly appreciate it. I was actually nominated back in the summer of 2018 but anytime I’m recognized by another blogger, it is definitely an honor! 🙂
