Five Interesting Things To Do in Calgary, AB, Canada
Peace Bridge
The Peace Bridge is a relatively new pedestrian bridge that opened on March 24, 2012.
I have seen a lot of cool bridges, but this is one of my absolute favorites!
The design by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava is unique and very well thought out. I love how you can see the city buildings behind it. This particular day, I found a rainbow in my photo. I didn’t even know it was there until I went through my photos later on!
Doesn’t matter if it’s daytime or nighttime, this bridge looks phenomenal in any lighting!
Calgary Tower
No trip to Calgary is complete without going to the top of the Calgary Tower.
Standing at 626 feet tall (191 m), the Tower offers 360-degree views of Calgary and the nearby Rocky Mountains from the observation deck.
You can have a little fun with the glass floor…
as well as with filters on your camera!
Stephen Avenue Walk
Walk downtown’s Stephen Avenue.
It is a pedestrian mall that includes great shopping…
and some amazing food!
Stephen Avenue offers a carefree, relaxing atmosphere to enjoy so much Calgary has to offer!
Take A Walking Tour of Calgary’s City Parks
Calgary has several parks in the downtown area. Each one is different and boasts its own beauty and unique features. There are several more, but these are the ones that I got the opportunity see!
Olympic Plaza
Nestled in the middle of downtown, Olympic Plaza was built in 1988 for the Olympic Winter Games.
I love its colorful fountain pattern…
and looking up at the different architectural styles of the buildings.
Stop to notice the flowers…
I found a little surprise!
St Patrick’s Island Park
St Patrick’s Island Park reopened in 2015 after going through renovation.
It is actually located on the Bow River and has everything from hiking trails and views of the city to a children’s area and an amphitheater!
Prince’s Island Park
Prince’s Island Park also in the downtown area was probably my favorite.
You could see the city, two different bridges…
and gorgeous color in its flowers and trees.
Be on the lookout for wildlife! I loved these black squirrels! We don’t have them in the South!
This little guy was grabbing dinner when we saw him, but he was aware of his surroundings. Look at those ears!
Watch The Sunset
Definitely go watch the sunset from Prince’s Island Park!
It is beautiful as it sets behind Peace Bridge!
The colors the sunset paints are beautiful with downtown, the bridge and the Bow River in view!
If you are like me and you love both the dazzling lights of cool city buildings and the quietness of nature found in parks, rivers, bridges and wildlife, you will love Calgary!
If you’ve been, leave me a comment and tell me where your favorite spot in the city is!
‘Til next time,
Trimm Travels,
Beautiful pictures! Wish we had seen all of this when we were there!
Thanks! I thought about that, but I didn’t know about it all then!
