Fashion Friday: Holiday Formal Events

I can hear you now…you have a holiday office party to go to or maybe it’s a fancy Christmas wedding! Either way, it’s a holiday formal event and you need something dressy or even formal! Yikes, where does one even start when trying to decide what to wear that is both festive and formal? Well, guess what? Sequins have made their way back into the “trendy” column!! Yep, I realize they can be somewhat polarizing, but love them or hate them, they’re back!

I found this dress and it could not have been more perfect for me! Great shade of red for Christmas and the detail is amazing!

It has what I call a tank cowl neck that adds so much to the look!

Once again, for those of us with curves, it ties at the natural waist with a wide, black satin ribbon! We won’t even start on its shimmer when the lights hit it!! Added bonus-it’s lined!!

I’m a huge fan of simple, simple, simple with formal wear. Therefore, I paired this only with diamond stud earrings, a cocktail ring, and my favorite heeled, suede black booties! Definitely don’t want anything to steal the show from the shimmering sequins, right?? If you live where it’s cold for the holidays, then you will need a coat with this one! My choice for this is a full-length peacoat or trench coat in black or even winter white!

Nail color I chose for this is an OPI classic that you can still get today in both regular and gel. The name is Bogotá Blackberry from the OPI Classic Collection. It is described by OPI as a “berry deep, dark wine shade”. This shade is basically the same color as the dress and it has been one of my favorites to wear in December for years!!
